Terms of use of our bamboo bikes

MINIMUM AGE

It does not require a minimum age to drive our bicycles, our team will verify whether the driver is fit to drive it.

TRAFFIC RULES

By signing the contract the renter declares that he/she knows how to drive a bicycle and confirms that he/she is not under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs and that he/she respects the national Spanish traffic regulations. The driver assumes complete responsibility for paying all fines issued by official authorities resulting from traffic violations.

DEPOSIT

In order to rent a bamboo bike without a guide the renter leaves a deposit (1.500€) at BambooBikeTour that can be paid by cash, by credit card or bank transfer. When paying by credit card BambooBikeTour blocks the amount in the form of a "prior authorization" from the renter's credit card. After the bike is returned correctly BambooBikeTour unblocks the deposit on the renter's credit card. The return process of the deposit can take up to 48 hours in some exceptional cases and is beyond our sphere of influence.

CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS

• Return: Unless it is documented on paper, the renter agrees to return the bike to our shop. Violation of this rule results in a fine.
• Late return: a delay in returning the bike results in a fine, plus additional rental days.
• If the bike is impounded due to driver's negligence, fault or breach of local traffic regulations (including parking violations), the renter must pay a fine in order to cover any administrative and operational costs incurred for its retrieval aside from fees as a result of the incident.
• No money will be refunded if the bike is returned before the originally agreed return date and time specified in the contract.

INSURANCE

Basic insurance for third parties (not included in the basic price of rental): the renter purchases an insurance which covers damages above the amount of the given deposit. This insurance minimizes the renters risk in case that the bicycle is stolen or involved in an accident. 

This only applies if the renter has followed the instructions of the rental agreement and of our staff at our store. Damages to the bike must be paid according to the damage list in our store.
CONDITION OF THE BICYCLE

All our bikes are checked daily by our mechanics before hitting the streets. The renter has to check the bike upon receiving it and make sure that it is working properly (brakes, tires, etc.). At the same time the renter has to confirm that he/she has received all the relevant documentation that states the already existing damages of the bicycle in the rental agreement.

CITY LIMITS

The renter is not authorized to move the bike out of town or drive on highways or other speed roads where cycling is prohibited. The bike can be used only within the Barcelona city area.
